The Dove Foundation Reviews Shirley Tucker’s “Diamonds in the Dust”
Oct 13th
An important review from the Dove Foundation:
This book is a must-read! It is written by someone who has lived in Africa and knows her subject well. Shirley Mowat Tucker captures the hearts of her readers as she writes about Ida Morgan, a woman whose husband was murdered.
…
The redemptive theme of this novel is powerful. It is a fairly quick read, at 179 pages. It’s interesting that Tucker reveals God mainly working through people in the novel, His hands extended if you will. The right people show up when they are needed. It also features the theme of facing one’s fears and part of the fear of the novel’s characters are due to the extreme poverty in certain areas in which the story takes place.
This book is the Grand Prize winner of Athanatos Christian Ministry’s First Annual Christian Novel Contest. It is the recipient too of our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal and we award the novel five Doves, which is our peak rating. This book deserves it.

Kirkus Review of Shirley Tucker’s “Diamonds in the Dust”
Oct 13th
Here’s an important review from the famed book reviewing outfit Kirkus Reviews! Excerpt:
Opening with a chase and a violent thunderstorm, Tucker’s novel immediately grabs the reader’s attention. Ida Morgan rescues a young child from a storm-swollen river and, in helping the girl, inadvertently places herself in varying degrees of danger.
….
An addictive storyline that pulls at the reader’s social conscience and sense of justice, delivered in an honest, humane manner.
Review by blogger “Mystic Rose” of Diamonds in the Dust
Oct 13th
Here’s a review from a blogger:
This book is a moving story about christian love, forgiveness and faith. The main character, Mrs. Morgan finds herself as a unwilling foster parent to a group of orphans. She friends them and becomes involved in a mystery of events that lead her into deeper and deeper involvement with these helpless children. The book takes on a life of its own and the reader becomes totally involved in this story. I highly recommend this book to teenagers and adults alike! Story based on life in South Africa.

Pleased to link to this recent review of Shirl’s book! Brief snippet:
Perhaps most interesting is the way it deals with God. It’s not the kind of Christian Fiction which throws God in the reader’s face every page. God, rather, works behind the scenes. He works through people. It’s a very realistic take on how God works in even the worst circumstances. “He has ears.”
Christians looking for a quick, engaging read should pick up Diamonds in the Dust. It will open eyes to the issues of disparity that still exist in South Africa (and elsewhere), and it’s just a plain good read.
